Tangerine Tango Butler’s Pantry

I recently completed a kitchen cabinet makeover, and I knew I had to share it with you guys! We all know, by now, that 2012′s Pantone “Color of the year” was Tangerine Tango. And man, was it everywhere! It’s funny, once Pantone announces the color of the year, companies (everything from fashion, to home decor) really run with it! I saw it popping up everywhere, and I loved it. What a fun, vibrant color. This year, the color is Emerald, and I have seen it creeping up in stores, too. Even in nail polish (which I have bought into as well!). Watch out for my green claws! haha.

Anyway, onto my Tangerine Tango story. With the majority of the kitchen, my client wanted to lighten and modernize the space. We started out with these basic builder cabinets. Not awful, but they definitely benefitted from the power of paint! We went neutral on the outside cabinetry, and then did a fun bluish-greenish-charcoal with a rubbed finish for the island…

(here is the “before” shot)

Much better, right? The space feels bigger and fresher!

My favorite part, though, is peeking around the corner, into the butler’s pantry…

What is this, I see?

A Tangerine Tango bar!

How cool is this? (And isn’t it cute, matching her Kitchenaid mixer?) I love clients that are willing to take a risk. This is the perfect way to do it, too. Everything is beautiful, calm, serene and neutral, but that little spot of tangerine is going to make her guests so happy! I know that it would brighten up my day.

Her wine glasses, pitchers, etc, will go in here, and I think it’ll just be the perfect spot of color!

To get this look, try using MyColor™ inspired by Pantone’s “Tangerine Tango” inside your cabinetry, and “Goat” for the outside. Such a nice combination!
